Storage and Freshness Guide
Oil and Product Shelf Life Guide
Carrier oils are natural products that can go rancid over time. Understanding shelf life and proper storage helps preserve quality and potency.
What Causes Rancidity?
- Oxidation from air and oxygen exposure
- Heat and UV light degradation
- Water or moisture contamination
- High polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA) content
Storage Best Practices
- Store in dark amber or cobalt glass bottles
- Keep away from heat and direct sunlight
- Refrigerate delicate oils (rosehip, flaxseed)
- Always close caps tightly after use
- Never introduce water into oil bottles
